Nike SB Dunk High “Land of the Thousand Lakes” (2011)

One of the highlights of my 15 year career at Nike SB - I got to do a colorway design for one of the most iconic styles from Nike, the Dunk High SB.

The colorway was inspired by my home country Finland.

Noble Green for the forests, Dark Navy for the lakes & White for the snow that covers our country for the winter season.

Nicknamed as “The Land of The Thousand Lakes” Dunk High SB, the backstory got lost a bit for the release especially in the US marketplace as some Nike SB rep had called it a Seattle Seahawks colorway to get better bookings for it in pacific northwest sales territory.

Looking back at the project, I think giving me a chance to get my colorway in global collection was a head nod from Nike Skateboarding European crew to acknowledge the hard work I had put into building the brand from the ground up since 2006 when we officially entered the Finnish marketplace amongst with other European countries.

Released in April 2011 for the Summer 2011 collection, the colorway was part of global inline Nike SB collection, available in all Nike Skateboarding territories globally.
